This sculpture was commissioned In Memory of Professor Robin Winter, Clinical Geneticist.
'Robin was a clinical geneticist with a special interest and expertise in dysmorphology and was arguably the best dysmorphologist the world has seen. Robin, together with former GOSH consultant Michael Baraitser, realised some years ago the specialised nature of their dysmorphology skills. They understood that many paediatricians and geneticists would not be able to hold in their heads the vast array of knowledge necessary to enable rapid, accurate genetic diagnoses to be made in the clinic. As a result, Robin and Michael developed the London Dysmorphology Database, now used by over 300 centres worldwide. The London Dysmorphology Database has become the 'gold standard' for clinical geneticists everywhere, an enormous tribute to Robin's contribution.'
